We sign this petition as members of the sports community to urge legislators, sport leaders, athletic governing bodies, schools, and judges to adopt strict evidence-based eligibility criteria for the female category.
We seek a definition of sex grounded in an individual’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth. These human biological characteristics require formal sex-segregation for girls and women to have equal opportunities in competitive sports.
We support inclusion for all, but in the appropriate sport category. Males identifying as transgender, non-binary, gender-fluid, or any other identity are encouraged to compete in the male category. These athletes are encouraged to follow the lead of females, who overwhelmingly compete in their sex category, the women’s category, regardless of their gender identity.
Furthermore, we urge you to secure women’s exclusive use of female spaces, such as locker rooms and bathrooms, for the same reasons these spaces were created, for female safety & dignity.
Generations have fought to establish girls’ and women’s rightful place in sport. Any eligibility framework that fails to prioritize girls’ and women’s rights will inevitably result in female exclusion.
